Demountable frame and tensioned fabric cover

A substantial portion of the restaurant is located as outdoor space. This jeopardises the potential revenue. A slight drop of rain renders the seating useless as people seek shelter.

Our solution was to provide a clear span structure from standard, off the shelf truss units and covered with a stretch membrane. Adopting a curved arched truss allows the fabric membrane to shed rainwater effectively and creates a unique interior space for dining. Side transparent panels roll open and provide flexibility to manage weather challenges whilst providing pleasant dining experience for customers.

The fabric membrane is removed and rolled back for typhoon conditions. The truss structural frame remains and deals with the high wind load. Thereafter the fabric membrane is tensioned back into position and business continues.
